Greenman Landscapes – A Case Study
Fencing for Mrs W in Saffron Walden, Essex
As phase 1 of this complete garden overhaul in Saffron Walden, Essex, the place to start was the boundary, these fences were old and unsightly. The objective here was to provide a private and secure area for the children to play and a good looking backdrop for the new garden as well as increase privacy.
We created a new boundary using 6 foot, high pressure treated panels and 4” UC4 classified timber posts and matching gravel boards. Pressure treated panels like these and UC4 posts will last much longer, saving time and money in the long run (commonly UC3 posts are used, but these will rot much quicker, costing more money and time). Gravel boards are also an important part of the fence as they take the ground level stresses away from the panels, it is cheaper and easier to replace a gravel board than a whole panel.
First we had to clear the vegetation, remove the shingle and address the levels so that they would work with the new garden. We also planted Pleached Photinia trees to increase the privacy.
The client was thrilled with the results.
